PUERTO PLATA For the 6th time Puerto Plata became the International Fly preferred destination when officials of the Ministry of Tourism (MITUR) in the General Gregorio Luperon International Airport welcomed about 24 aircrafts with 65 people in total (pilots, co-pilots and passengers).
Mrs. Catherine Tobeñas, the president of the International Air Rally organization, said that the goal is to bring more pilots to visit the Caribbean and especially the Dominican Republic to enjoy everything the North Coast offers.
The international organization based in Canada, chosen annually Caribbean destination event for the sixth year including Puerto Plata in recognition of the rise of private aviation in our country and the incentives provided for by the authorities.
Visitors will be staying in the region for about two days, that will include a visit to the Damajagua, Sosua, Cabarete and other tourist attractions of the area, before leaving for Samana where they will stay for a couple of days more.
This Rally boosts tourism and economy of the area, because private pilots are tourists with high power consumption making purchases and investments in the Caribbean destinations.
